Artist's Statement
As a college art major taking a required painting class, I first
experienced what I now define as “the companionable struggle” of watercolor
painting. Many years have passed, and I still
find watercolor often elusive and yet eloquently attractive; thus we are still
together, the struggle and I.
Although my subject matter varies, it is secondary to expressing what most absorbs my interest: how to use contrast, delicious colors and the play of light to express to the viewer the juxtaposition of inner and external observations as they infuse an irreplaceable moment with meaning.
Continuing to explore new ways to present a viewpoint that is both accessible and intriguing, I am a member of the Idaho Watercolor Society. Currently, my paintings are displayed at the ArtSource Gallery in Boise, Idaho, at 10th and Main, and at KBSU.
In May 2010, I was chosen St. Alphonsus “Artist of the Month,” and have participated in many exhibits with the Idaho Watercolor Society, including the 2009 and 2010 Annual Juried Show at BSU, where most recently my painting, “Shoshone Falls” came in Fifth at the 2011 Annual Juried Exhibition. My paintings will be exhibited in August 2012 at the Initial Point Gallery, Meridian ID.
Two of my paintings have appeared on the cover of “The Country Register” (April-May 2009 & 2010) a bi monthly publication reaching readers in Oregon, Washington and Idaho.
I have worked on consignment in addition to offering both originals and limited edition Giclee prints.
